Qwiic for Quick
The idea behind Qwiic based connectors in HealthyPi v4 is to bring flexibility in interfacing. It makes prototyping easy, less complex and interfacing with I2C has been put up simple. The On-board qwiic compatible connectors has built-in support for popular qwiic sensors.
Simple for interfacing
With On-board 2x Qwiic slots makes sensor plugins much easier, you can keep going by connecting multiple sensors. This would make it more suitable to plug in, detect the sensor, upload the code and read/display data. Many sensors can be interfaced to produce an analog data, temperature, imu, environmental composition, pressure, pH, light intensity etc.
The video below shows how easy it is to connect Sparkfun’s Qwiic microOLED display to render HealthyPi v4 output.
Health vs. Environment
Want to track changes in vital signs with respect to changes taking place in the surrounding environment? We connected the SparkFun Environmental Combo Breakout - CCS811/BME280 (Qwiic) sensor to HealthyPi v4 in order to gather a variety of environmental data, including CO₂, barometric pressure, humidity, and temperature. Such data can be used, in combination with vital signs, to help give environmental context to our measurements. Check out the video below:
* Pin mapping and connection instructions:
HealthyPi v4 pin label | Colour Code | Environmental Combo |
---|---|---|
SDA | BLUE | SDA |
SCL | YELLOW | SCL |
3V3 | RED | VCC |
GND | BLACK | GND |
Connection Instructions |

-> Connect the SparkFun Environmental Combo Breakout Qwiic directly into the HealthyPi v4 Qwiic-1 or Qwiic-2 port |
Activity vs. Vital signs
As HealthyPi v4 is a wearable platform, it can be used in conjunction with any IMU based QWIIC sensor to recognize activity. In this experiment, we connected the SparkFun Triple Axis Accelerometer Breakout - MMA8452Q (Qwiic) sensor to HealthyPi v4 and captured accurate activity data alongside the user’s vital signs.Check out the video below:
